The company Acosta Danza, directed by the first dancer Carlos Acosta, will return to the stage of the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso, on 6, 7 and 8 April, with a season called "Encuentros".

The new presentations of the group are part of the celebrations for the 120th anniversary of Japanese migration to Cuba, and have been arranged with the collaboration of the Japan Foundation, the Embassy of Japan in Cuba and the National Council of the Performing Arts.

To celebrate the occasion, Acosta Danza will premiere two creations by Saburo Teshigawara, considered by international critics as the most important choreographer in Japan. Teshigawara will premiere the piece "Lost in Dance", which will be performed together with the dancer Rihoko Sato, on behalf of the company KARAS, directed by Teshigawara. The dancers of Acosta Danza will premiere "Mil años después", a work that the Japanese choreographer has created especially for the Cuban company.

The program is completed with the world premiere of "Paysage, Soudain, la nuit", choreography of the Swedish Pontus Lidberg, with music by Leo Brouwer and the Swedish Stefan Levin, which will feature on stage with an installation by the Cuban artist Elizabet Cerviño. As Saburo Teshigawara will do, Pontus Lidberg will also be on stage as a dancer.

Since its stage debut, Acosta Danza has the objective of performing dance performances in full accordance with the most current notions that are developed in the world, not only in the matter of the movement of the bodies but in everything related to the scene. It is defined as a space for renewal, search and experimentation, not only for Cuban artists, but also opens doors to the creators of the world, choreographers, musicians, designers, artists of visual arts and audiovisuals.

Tickets for the "Encuentros" Season will be available at the box office of the Gran Teatro de La Habana, from Tuesday, April 3, from nine in the morning until five in the afternoon.
